Zuppa Toscana Soup

Zuppa Toscana (Better Than Olive Garden!)

    • 1 lb. Italian sausages (use spicy to get that signature Olive Garden flavor)
    • 4 to 6 russet potatoes, chopped
    • 1 onion, chopped
    • 1/4 c. REAL bacon pieces (optional)
    • 2 Tbsp minced garlic (about 3-4 cloves)
    • 32 oz. chicken broth
    • 1 c. kale or Swiss chard, chopped
    • 1 c. heavy whipping cream
    • 2 Tbsp flour

      {{  I like to add other things to this as well, whatever I have on hand, like tortellini, sweet peas/corn or zucchini.  just depends on the season }}

    1. Brown sausage links in a sauté pan.
    2. Cut links in half lengthwise, then cut slices.
    3. Place sausage, chicken broth, garlic, potatoes and onion in slow cooker. Add just enough water to cover the vegetables and meat.
    4. Cook on high 3-4 hours (low 5-6 hours) until potatoes are soft.
  • 30 minutes before serving

    1. Mix flour into cream removing lumps.
    2. Add cream and kale to the crock pot, stir.
    3. Cook on high 30 minutes or until broth thickens slightly.
    4. Add salt, pepper, and cayenne to taste.

The Three Amigos......flamingos

welcome to the first edition of "Sew it Sunday" by Sew Cute by nichole.

This weekend I worked on a bunch of lovely ladies!
These flamingo's were so much fun to make!  Of course the pattern comes from the amazing Funky Friends Factory.

the first one is in the most traditional color of brilliant pink. Isn't she just lovely?

Next up is the medium pink,
and last but not least, my personal favorite of the trio,
a light baby pink bird with gray legs instead of black

She is just so sweet!  She is sitting on my desk right now as I write this post. I'm thinking that the next baby girl shower I go to just might be getting this little lady.

So there you have it!  What did you sew over this last weekend of 2013??

Planning a Movie Party

I am known to throw huge birthday parties for my kids, and my son loves it. He wants to start planning his party the day after his last one. He is no stranger to pinterest, in fact, he searches and pins on my kindle almost every night .

This February, for his 7th birthday he wants to host a movie party!  We usually utilize the amazing fellowship center of our church for parties, but this year we have decided to keep it home, but that means that the family party and friends party will need to be separated due to the small size of my home.

Now that we made it past Christmas, the official planning begins!
We've been keeping ideas on our MOVIE PARTY PINTEREST BOARD all year.

The main ideas Ayden is interested in is a ticket booth on the front porch:
a red curtain around the TV like a movie theater:
and ticket like invitations:
stay tuned to watch as we transform our living room into a movie theater to celebrate a 7th birthday party!

My BIGgest project!

I always find that the holiday season brings out the creative side in my customers. This year I received many special colored animals to fulfill special Santa requests. Including a bunch of  kangaroos!
but my favorite project this season was an order for 8 giant stuffed animals!  I enlarged the digital patterns that I have by 4x to create these fun creatures for some very lucky children!
To show the scale of each one, they animals are pictured with my 6 year old son, as well as the size of the original animal!
